Reconstruction Thresholds on Regular Trees

چکیده

We consider the model of broadcasting on a tree, with binary state space, on the infinite rooted tree k in which each node has k children. The root of the tree takes a random value 0 or 1, and then each node passes a value independently to each of its children according to a 2 2 transition matrix P. We say that reconstruction is possible if the values at the dth level of the tree contain non-vanishing information about the value at the root as d ∞. Extending a method of Brightwell and Winkler, we obtain new conditions under which reconstruction is impossible, both in the general case and in the special case p11 0. The latter case is closely related to the hard-core model from statistical physics; a corollary of our results is that, for the hard-core model on the k 1 -regular tree with activity λ 1, the unique simple invariant Gibbs measure is extremal in the set of Gibbs measures, for any k 2.

Reconstruction of Symmetric Potts Models

The reconstruction problem on the tree has been studied in numerous contexts including statistical physics, information theory and computational biology. However, rigorous reconstruction thresholds have only been established in a small number of models. We prove the first exact reconstruction threshold in a non-binary model establishing the Kesten-Stigum bound for the 3-state Potts model on reg...

تغییرات هدایت استخوانی پس از بازسازی زنجیره استخوانچه‌ای گوش میانی

Background & Aim: The most common surgically treatable causes of hearing loss are middle ear diseases among which the greatest effect is related to ossicular chain dysfunction. Successful ossicular chain reconstruction certainly improves air conduction thresholds and closes air-bone gap in audiograms, but the effect of this procedure on bone conduction thresholds has remained to be elucidat...

Reconstruction on Trees and Spin Glass Transition

Consider an information source generating a symbol at the root of a tree network whose links correspond to noisy communication channels, and broadcasting it through the network. We study the problem of reconstructing the transmitted symbol from the information received at the leaves. In the large system limit, reconstruction is possible when the channel noise is smaller than a threshold. We sho...

The role of trees as a natural index in post-disaster reconstruction (Case Study: Palm groves of Bam, Following the 2003 Bam earthquake)

Background & objective: Trees, as an influential element, have an important role in post disaster reconstruction in four aspects; they can be used as "temporary settlement materials", "reviving collective memories", "creating calm” and “motivation for reconstruction". In addition, as "living memorials”, they remind the disaster and indicate the necessity of preparedness and resilience of societ...

Parametric maximum parsimonious reconstruction on trees.

We give a formal study of the relationships between the transition cost parameters and the generalized maximum parsimonious reconstructions of unknown (ancestral) binary character states {0,1} over a phylogenetic tree. As a main result, we show there are two thresholds λ¹n and λ⁰n , generally confounded, associated to each node n of the phylogenetic tree and such that there exists a maximum par...
